The benefits of preparing for an interview

Preparing for an interview requires the same effort than preparing for a presentation. Both if you are the one being interviewed or if you are recruiting candidates for a new position, the key lies in the preparation.

The first thing is to create a list with the questions you wish to ask or that may be asked to you. Then, the best thing is to draft two versions of the replies: a short one and a longer one. We must bear in mind that the interview will be carried out in a language other than your own, and this will help you have more arguments, if required. The next step is the assessment of the replies. Ideally, this should be done by a third party in order to offer an objective view and detect any aspects that may require improvement. If you cannot work with another person, it is advisable to wait and review the replies after a few days have elapsed

The last step is to practice the proper pronunciation and intonation with a teacher who will make sure that the goal is achieved, and the arguments are presented adequately.

From there on, you only need to rehearse.
